For 8 years, Business Manager, Chris Flett has made life better for IUOE 955 members & their families.

In that time - almost a decade - we’ve been through a lot together:

  • Two 5% pension increases for members in good standing (totaling more than 10% earned rise)

  • Delivery of the one billionth pension dollar

  • Government funding for our Budd Coutts Training Centre (first time in Alberta’s history for any union training centre)

  • 75th anniversary of IUOE 955

  • 50th anniversary of OE 955 Pension Trust Fund

  • Industry ups and downs

  • A crippling global pandemic

  • Organizing of first-ever, front line health care workers

  • Boosted IUOE Local 955 brand recognition

  • Challenging bargaining environments

  • New governments

  • Negotiations of leading collective agreements

  • Improvements to benefit service delivery

  • Enriched government relations, organizing and communications

  • Difficult labour law changes

  • Major project announcements like DOW and Air Products and much more

  • Left Building Trades of Alberta

And while there have been many changes since you elected me Business Manager in 2017, one constant is the continued inspiration I get from the talented IUOE 955 members I meet and speak with every day.

The work we do building, maintaining, and servicing our communities is vital to the overall success of our province, our country, and beyond.

In fact, the accomplishments we’ve achieved over the past few years have been recognized all across our international union, amongst IUOE 955 membership, by all levels of government, labour and industry, and by the public. I’m incredibly proud of all we’re achieving, but I know there is much more work to be done.

That’s why I humbly ask you to lend me your vote for IUOE 955 Business Manager once again, so together, we can continue to grow and foster this great organization into one of the strongest and largest union locals in western Canada.
